Tell Extratasty what's in your liquor cabinet and it'll tell you all the drinks you can make. There's even Flickr and Del.icio.us integration! Geek out and get drunk at the same time - and look good while doing it in a Threadless tee. Hooray for the internet! - Attack of the Show

Random Fixes / Changes
Hi everyone!

I made a few improvements and squashed a few bugs today, things should run a bit smoother. Some of the things that were done

I thought it was kinda lame that the /recipes page showed duplicates. Like if Vodka Tonic was the best drink it might show up under the Vodka AND the Tonic Category. Now it will just show up under one. This fix should make that page much more useful.

Not sure if anyone noticed but there was a comment undo-delete bug in the hype section. That's been fixed :-p

"Finally, a highly pragmatic Web 2.0 service"
Finally, a highly pragmatic Web 2.0 service -- Extratasty is a social drink recipe site that lets you find new mixed drinks (or remember the ones you learned and promptly forgot) by search or by tag, see what newfangled concoctions your friends are trying, and rate recipes you've tried as well a see others' ratings. It's got a cool feature that takes the list of ingredients in your bar and narrows the search subset to drinks you can actually make with the materials you have at hand. I vote this tool Most Likely To Be Accessed Repeatedly At Web 2.0 Launch Parties.

Recipe Page Sidebar Updates!
Oh boy! Today I made it so that similar drinks appear in the sidebar of the recipe (over on the right).

Oh also you can tag recipes now!

The way it works is the author (owner) of a recipe can add or delete any tags, except for the ingredients. Any other person can add tags to a recipe, but can only delete ones that they've themselves have added.

Make sure you tag lots of stuff because it makes it easier for people to find recipes! Radical!

The recipe book is starting to come together.
You can now add and categorize drinks in your recipe book. There's a little button the recipe page that lets you add, then you can categorize. To view your recipe book you can click the text at the top that says "My recipe book", click one of the many links around the site that say "Take me to my recipe book" or go into your profile and click "Recipe book" in the navigation there.

In the near future you will be able to print out your recipe book and the categories will be used as "Chapters" when printing.

The recipe book can also be used to keep track of favorite recipes and such.

Oh yea... INTEGRATION!!!!
So Jake and I were talking about how cool it would be to allow the ExtraTasty users to post their flickr, del.icio.us and blog items to their profile. Kind of like a profile aggregator.

So we did it. Under the account page is a space for your flickr username, your del.icio.us, and an rss feed of your choice. When you fill this information out - your profile page grabs your posted items and shows them to people who view your profile. If you don't have an account at these sites go grab one now (flickr, del.icio.us). Right now we are calling it web presence, but if you have a better name let us know.

I really like this because it connects social networks. (Note to people making social networks: We need more connections people! Lets work together!)

So check out Jake's and my profiles.

Also - flickr and del.icio.us are some of our favorite social networks. we are not opposed to integrating with other social networks. if you have any ideas of a site that we could integrate with.. let us know.

Update! You have been watching us make Extratasty live!
So it has been a month or so since we launched Extratasty and I am sure you all have noticed the growth and evolution of the site. It has been awesome to see how y'all have interacted and to test some of the excellent drinks that have been added.

Since we are in no way done with Extratasty, I want to remind all you fellow drinkers that if you run across something that makes you think: "umm.. wtf.." then please email us at info@extratasty.com. If you want to talk to Ivan, please call us at (773) 915-1159 ext 894.

Oh yea. I have noticed that I am the only person leaving comments!! If you see a drink that you like, let the creator know that you liked it. Leave a comment. Rate it. INTERACT!

See y'all out this weekend with my Extratasty recipes in hand and my bar money in the other. ;)

Oh yea.. I want to hint to a little secret we are working on. It should be active at some point in the near future - but should change the way you drink and mobile.

Bring your recipes with you! All you need is an iPod and this zip file! Un-zip the ExtraTasty folder to your computer and put it in your iPod's notes folder! Now you'll never be stuck at a bar not knowing what to order! Oh by the way, only recipes that are in your recipebook get downloaded into your ipod, so make sure you add a bunch!

"useful if you are looking for a good drink recipe"
Extratasty is a frivolous site, but it’s also useful if you are looking for a good drink recipe.

Users submit drink recipes. Ingredients are tagged and searchable. Drink recipes are ratable. There is an option to include all of the things you have in your bar, and the site will tell you what drinks are possible in different combinations. - Michael Arrington @ TechCrunch

"a fun site that makes for a great party planning resource"
Extra Tasty is a cool new site that makes it easy to see what kind of concoctions you can make with what’s in your liquor cabinet (of for you web 4.0′rs out there your parents liquor cabinet.)

Really quite a fun little app. You can easily add items to your bar with an AJAX popup list that auto-fills. It also list popular items that you don’t have in your bar that you might not think of and you can add them with a single click. - web2.0central

"Finally, A Useful Web 2.0 Site"
Extratasty is a "Web 2.0" site that lets you search and tag your favorite alcoholic drink recipes. Which means that it's easy to use, has high quality design, and uses "tags" as a form of navigation.

I'm coming to believe that all "web 2.0" really means is graphic design and information architecture that isn't insanely bad. A search on Google for "drink recipes" yields 13.5 million hits, yet I instinctively like the Extratasty site better than anything I've seen before because of its clean design and usability. - Ari Paparo
